Ali

The past week and some days the news of the passing of Muhammad Ali has filled the news media. What can be said that has not been said? I do not have anything profound to add.

I will only use his life as an example of what I write about—Leadership.

I could go into great detail reviewing each leadership trait and principle I have been taught and speak about. I will not bore you. I will ask that you recall my favorite comment about leadership.

"If you cannot do anything I teach about leadership, do this—act like a leader." Behave in a manner that you would expect those who follow you should behave.

Muhammad Ali stood up for what he believed from beginning to end. No matter who stood with him or abandoned him, he stood.

What do you stand for? Does your behavior speak for you? Do you take responsibility for your actions? Do you call yourself a leader?

No, I have nothing new to add to what has been in the news. Bless all of you who read this newsletter.

What in the World...

The news has been full of world take notice events this past month. The passing of Muhammad Ali, the Court Decision on the Stanford University rape case and now a mass shooting.

I am stunned beyond belief.

Ali was not always universally loved. He was always one with strong leadership traits.

Courts do not always get things right. This past week felt like an assault on women from more than the rapist.

Mass murder seems to be an issue men have.

June has been a tough month for the world, the nation, and women. Tomorrow is another day. Pray for peace. Pray for justice.

Remind Yourself

I am often asked for leadership advice based on my Marine Corps experience for use in business. This section is providing short leadership tips you can use in becoming an Exceptional Leader. Being good on any given day is easy. Being exceptional requires daily effort. Enjoy the read.

June has been a month for the record books. Take a moment this week and remind yourself who you are and what are your values.

List your values. Define them. Live them.

If you list more than five or six values, I will offer you have no values. It is tough to live up to a long laundry list of values. We are all human. Give yourself a break. What do you believe as your truth? List them, define them; live them.
