Out of Court Settlements are at record highs, and relief is not in sight.

  • Boston — $36 million between 2005 and 2015
  • Chicago — $661 million between 2004 and 2016 (That is over Half a Billion Dollars)
  • Cleveland — $8.2 million between 2004 and 2014
  • Dallas — $6.6 million between 2004 and 2014
  • Denver — $12million between 2011 and 2015
  • Los Angeles — $101 million between 2002 and 2011
  • New York — $228.5 million in 2016 alone

Settlement payouts are out of control. The vast majority of officer misconduct settlements are a result of poor judgment and weak leadership.

The thought that the issues facing BIG Cities can’t happen in your jurisdiction is like buying a first-class discount ticket on the Titanic—great feeling, great view but the voyage will end badly. Take a look at these settlements:

  • Hempstead, NY — $8.3 million in 2010
  • Yellowstone County, MT — $1.25 million in 2017
  • Boone County, KY — $3.5 million in 2014
  • Inglewood, CA — $4.6 million in 2012

The evidence is undeniable. Officer misconduct is a real issue in every jurisdiction across the nation.

IN RESPONSE TO THE DEMAND, WE HAVE DEVELOPED AN ONLINE VERSION OF THIS POPULAR COURSE!

WHY THIS COURSE?

There is no shortage of Law Enforcement courses online or live. This course is unique. This course is about CHANGING MINDSET.

Policing today is like walking through a minefield—one misstep could be devastating to the department, the city, and the community. Everyone pays.

It is the ONLY course of this type.

The course is based on the findings of the President’s Task Force Report: 21st Century Policing.

This course is more than a discussion of the six pillars addressed in the Report. This course goes into areas such as:

  • Changing Mindset
  • How to Build Trust
  • The Importance of Values
  • The Rules of Poverty
  • Guardian Vs. Warrior
  • And More…

Rewards

The benefits of this program:

  • Changing mindset—most notable—policing across gender, race, and culture
  • Building lasting relationships with peers from other organizations
  • Seeing a tangible drop in police misconduct

Colonels (Ret) Freeman and Boggs are leaders of exemplary Character, Compassion and Integrity. Their combined 70+ years of leadership, management and community based policing strategies conducted throughout the world and in complex environments were invaluable in helping my organization grow into the professional police officers we need in today’s complex social and economic environments. I personally want to thank them for helping my police officers and leaders embrace the elements found in the President’s Report on 21st Century Policing that should guide all law enforcement executives throughout our country to better understand our communities, build strong partnerships and ultimately build long lasting trust between our citizens and our police forces.

About the Instructors:

Colonel Byron Freeman, a retired Army Military Police Officer, has over 35 years of Law Enforcement experience, both in uniform and as a Security Expert. He has provided support to the Fountain Police Department in Fountain Colorado, Norfolk City Sheriff’s Office in Norfolk Virginia, Delta College Police Academy in Bay City Michigan, and WGN-TV in Chicago Illinois as a Law Enforcement Expert to name a few. He was instrumental in establishing and maintaining a capable Iraqi Police Force during operations in Iraq; a Police Force faced with cultural and religious nuances requiring similar if not greater cultural sensitivities facing Law Enforcement Professionals. Colonel Freeman brings his extensive experience as a Provost Marshal (Police Chief) and Military Police Brigade Commander under combat conditions.

Colonel John Boggs’ leadership development experience is second to none. His areas of expertise include leadership, national security strategy, strategy development, operational planning, training and education. He has held a long and impressive list of prominent executive, senior staff, and academic positions. As a Marine Infantry Officer, he is one of the rare few that have commanded at every level of his Marine Corps career. He has served in advisory positions on high-level national government staffs, to include the Office of the Secretary of Defense—Personnel and Readiness. He has advised General Officers and Political Appointees. Salient to this effort is Colonel Boggs’ experience with the New York City Police Department (NYPD). He supported the NYPD by providing a thorough review of existing leadership education, made recommendations for strengthening their Police Leadership Program of Instruction, and advised on the NYPD 20/20 effort.
